Korean handset maker, Samsung Electronics, has announced the impending Canadian launch of the OMNIA SCH-i910, a touchscreen smartphone positioned to compete with the Apple iPhone and HTC Touch Diamond devices.
The OMNIA features a 3.2-inch display with on-screen QWERTY keyboard, a Flash-enabled web browser, an MP3 player, and a built-in video camera with video editing capabilities. It comes equipped with EV-DO, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth connectivity, as well as support for up to 16GB of external memory.
The new smartphone also features plenty of business-friendly attributes, including a Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system, which allows users to edit Word and Excel documents on the go.
The name OMNIA` is Latin for everything,` the company explained.
What we`ve tried to do is build everything into this device to allow you to customize it to what your personal preferences and personal needs are, said Paul Brannen, general manager of Samsung Canada`s wireless division.
The device will be sold by both Bell and Telus, which are expected to release availability and pricing information sometime next week.
