A teen employee of a Turkey Hill store in Ephrata was caught allegedly using prepaid phone cards that were supposedly sold to customers about $300 worth, police said.
On Saturday, managers of the Turkey Hill at 4 Hahnstown Road, discovered that one of their employees, had activated the cards for her own use, police said.
Investigators said the 17-year-old Ephrata girl was terminated after store managers realized she never sold any of the cards.
Prepaid or calling cards provide convenience to frequent travelers who dont have cell phones or want to avoid heavy cellular roaming charges.
The juvenile was arrested and cited with retail theft, police said, but was released into the custody of her parents Saturday evening.
